Glenn A. Shannon

Glenn Shannon began his professional career in 1981 when he joined the law firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York City. From 1981 through 1993, he practiced in the firm’s Real Estate Group, the last four years as a partner, representing a wide range of domestic and international clients in acquisitions, sales, financings, joint ventures and leasing transactions.

In 1994, Mr. Shannon joined Shorenstein Company, a private owner and operator of high-quality commercial properties across the United States, as the head of the company’s New York office. He relocated to San Francisco in 2001 to assume the role of president, leading the company’s operations, equity fundraising and organizational development. Mr. Shannon became a vice chairman of the company in 2016, serving in that role until his retirement in 2022. As vice chairman, he continued to participate in the company’s real estate investment activities as a member of its investment committee and oversaw the management company that functions as the Shorenstein family office.

Mr. Shannon serves on the advisory board for Kinship Capital and Carmel Partners, serves as a member of the board of Wind River Trust Company and serves as an independent non-executive director for The Addax and Oryx Group LLC. He also acts as an advisor to several private family offices with respect to governance, estate planning and investment matters.

Mr. Shannon is a member of the Ambassador Council for Aim High, a tuition-free summer school program for middle school students in underserved Bay Area communities, and is a member of the board of the National Eating Disorders Association, an organization that advocates for and supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders.

Mr. Shannon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
