Matt Golden joined Carmel Partners in 2019 and is a Managing Partner and the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. He brings more than 27 years of experience in real estate law. Mr. Golden oversees compliance, legal, human resources and risk management. He is the Chair of the Management Committee and a member of the Executive, Investment and Portfolio Management Committees.
Prior to Carmel, Mr. Golden served as General Counsel for Beacon Capital Partners for 10 years, where he was also a member of the Management, Investment and Compliance Committees. Before joining Beacon, he was a Partner at Debevoise & Plimpton in its real estate practice.
Mr. Golden received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics with a minor in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School.
Julia Murdock joined Carmel Partners in 2021 as Associate General Counsel. She oversees the legal aspects of development projects, acquisitions, and dispositions across all Carmel markets.
Prior to Carmel, Ms. Murdock was an Associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, working on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions. Before Gibson Dunn, she honed her contract, financing, and deal experience in the Real Estate departments of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in North Carolina, and then Paul Hastings in San Francisco.
Ms. Murdock earned both her Bachelor of Arts in political science and global studies and Juris Doctor degrees at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Marc Leiding joined Carmel Partners in 2023 and is the VP of Compliance. He brings more than seven years of experience in the compliance and financial services space. He is responsible for working diligently with all departments to ensure Carmel’s compliance program operates at the highest level.
Prior to Carmel, Mr. Leiding served as an Executive Director at Waystone Compliance Solutions, a third-party compliance consulting services firm representing private fund managers, CTAs and CPOs, wealth advisors and broker-dealers. Previous to Waystone, he was a Senior Mortgage Banker at loanDepot and originated residential mortgages. Prior to loanDepot, he was an Asset Manager specializing in foreclosure and loss mitigation of distressed single-family real estate assets.
Mr. Leiding received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from California State University, Fullerton, and a Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law.
